Today I just got waitlisted at Syracuse (my first choice) which was surprising to me because I thought I was going to get rejected. Anyways I really wanted to go to Syracuse because they are known for their impressive financial aid package but the only person I can blame is myself. I rejected the wait list because there was no point in going without any financial aid (if I got in).

I'm most likely going to UMass Amherst but I got into JMU and DePaul but their financial aid package consisted mostly of loans. The dilemma I have is that I was truly underwhelmed and felt out of place at Amherst when I visited. I know it sounds selfish and stupid for not wanting to go to UMass Amherst but it's really my only option left.

My question is about transferring to another college after one year at UMass. I know I can get between a 3.7-4.0 GPA for the year (cocky I know) and if anyone was wondering I just had a plethora of issues with family and laziness during high school, which is why I can only blame myself for my situation. I was wondering if I transferred if it were possible to receive a significant amount of aid. I was also wondering how much weight colleges put on high school stats.
Sincerely, Student who wasted his potential for being stupid (irony)
