Really Confused, Chances to get in

I know this type of thread litters these forums and I'm sure many people get sick of them, but I honestly couldn't think of any other way to figure out my current situation.

I am the Founder/President of 2 Clubs, one which is the largest student-run club at my school's history

I have a 2000 SAT score

I have taken over 10 AP Classes

Played a Varsity Sport

My English Techer told me my essay was excellent (I'm sure that sounds like my mom telling me I'm cool, but I couldn't figure out any other form of validation)

But....I have a 2.6 Unweighted GPA.

My number one is probably Penn State U Park (Coming from Out-of State) and I just was wondering if anybody could give me the general admissions profile a Penn State student would have. I heard 2/3s of the decision was based on GPA and the other 1/3 was SAT/Essay, if that's the case...I'm pretty nervous but I'm not sure. If you could please take the time to help me, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm not only confused about my chances at this specific instituion but my general range of Colleges I have a decent shot for in general.

Whats your weighted GPA?
Now I am not sure whether this chart below takes Weighted or unweighted well anyway.
With your SAT score of 2000,to be in the SAFE ZONE,you will need to have a gpa of (3.8 i think this weighted). That means you will be in the blue bubble.

A minimum of 3.0 gpa puts you in the yellow bubble which doesn’t mean you wont get into UP.

All the best!
Hope it all works out for you!
Where else have you applied to?

WE ARE PENN STATE!

PSU uses the weighted GPA- they do put more emphasis in the GPA than the SAT/ACT score- I guess at this point it shouldn’t be much longer before you find out

Thanks a lot I really appreciate it. Actually my weighted GPA is exactly a 3.8. And I just applied recently so I’m not exactly sure when I will hear back.

I have also applied to University of South Carolina, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Boston University, Rutgers, and as a reach school UNC: Chapel HIll (I live in North Carolina).

I’d definitely love to go to Penn State U Park, but I mean obviously my GPA shows how much I slacked in high school, hopefully my SAT score can pull me up a bit or my extra-curriculars. Anyways, thanks for your help and interest, it means a lot!

And I think you have a good shot!

All ze best! (:

If you applied after 11/30, you could have a long wait yet. Right now they are only processing applications submitted up until 11/30. After that, other applications will be reviewed to fill the remaining slots.
