Hey everyone
well im an international student who applied to a number of colleges and now after getting a number of rejections am deciding between ----
Amherst
Berkeley
Columbia
I'm really quite confused....
From what I gather is that Amherst is the probably the most sensible choice but berkeley and columbia have the reputation.
As of now I have pretty much decided on amherst because of the hefty financial aid package (36,000$$)
But could you guys please rank these three or tell me anything that would help me make a decision ----
a) not considering the financial part
b) considering the aid at amherst

I play to study Economics.
As for the type of school (location)... this sounds wierd but for me i just want to to got to the better school !!
Ya these three are really different and thats making my choice even more difficult!

I would say Amherst and Columbia are considered equally prestigeous by those in the know. Of course more have heard of Columbia, especially internationally. Many pass over ivies including HYP for Amherst because of the small classes, small community and exceptional LAC experience.

Berkeley, while having great grad programs, has many problems on the undergrad level. Huge classes, nasty curves and it usually takes 5 years to graduate. Housing is also an issue as it's hard to get on campus housing so most commute leaving less of a community atmosphere.

Yes, i guess thats work makes amherst special
people will give up harvard for amherst
but i guess not many people will give up harvard for berkeley or colmbia
