Really did horrible in HS...chance anyway?

<p>I am a male and money is NOT the first thing I MUST consider when looking at schools. I am African American and moved from the suburbs to the Big Apple. Although I don’t attend a horrible school I thought about writing in my essay about the tough transition. The only problem with this is it would report my freshman year being at another school. </p>

<p>Also I am only taking Honors English 11 this year. By the time I apply for college I will have a term of AP Calc, Ap Language, and hopefully AP Chem. Will this affect me not taking any AP’s this year? I have a full schedule, all 8 classes no lunch.</p>

<p>Drexel is know for engineering, have you checked that out?</p>

<p>university of illinois at urbana-champaign seems like you have a reasonable shot at getting in. top 5 engineering and if you don’t get in you can get into general studies then transfer in to engineering.</p>

<p>and as for writing a good essay, i doubt it will help if you are applying to any big state school where stats matter most.</p>
