<p>Can i get into an ivy league school? I have my eye on Stanford but I don't want to pin all my hopes into one school </p>

<p>i'm a sophomore in high school and want to know my chances.. thank you for your help in advance! =]</p>

<p>-i have about a 4.7 gpa (which means about 3/4 B's in all ap and pre-ap classes total for four years of high school) (by the end of junior year it will be about a 4.8) -- which at my high school (a very very competitive public high school in a big metropolitan city that usually sends several kids to ivies every year) would be about in the top 20-ish people out of about 800
-editor (as of now) hopefully i can be chief later! of my school newspaper
-state qualifier for a nationally ranked debate team
-member of a team of six people who won $10,000 at a nyc national competition
-editor-in-chief and founder of a neighborhood newsletter that caters to about 500 people that is dedicated to cultural diversity and racial acceptance
-winner of the princeton prize
-science fair regional finalist
-UIL state/regional piano gold medalist
-president and founder of a music club that volunteers by playing concerts for homeless shelters and nursing homes, with all different kinds of music (i play piano)
-multiple city-wide piano competitions
-international chopin youth competition finalist and silver medalist
-a few writing competitions
-im a pretty good writer so i think my essays will be good, hopefully
-i haven't taken the sat's yet but im taking a prep course this summer, hopefully it will help!
-i will be taking two ap's this year (one more than most kids in my grade) and probably 4 next year
-all ap and pre-ap classes
-volunteer every summer on church mission trips
-church pianist
-first person to go to an american university for undergrad (i dont know if this helps?)
-im pretty good with people so hopefully my interviews will go well!
-okay recommendations (hopefully i can improve this in the future)</p>

<p>i dont know if this'll help but i can pay full tuition (my parents make about $300k a year combined but theyre not like filthy rich so we can't like fund a building or anything lol)</p>

<p>And therein lies the key. The fact that you seem to be unaware of what the Ivy League even is raises questions about your desire to attend a member school. I am not in anyway trying to talk down to you; you are only a sophomore and probably much more prepared for college than I was at that time. All I will advise is that you reexamine your priorities. When it comes to college, are you looking for prestige, or are you focusing on what will provide the best atmosphere and education for you.</p>

<p>honestly…its kind of difficult to evaluate you since you dont have an SAT score, which is kind of an integral part of the app. your ECs seem strong tho, so i’d say you have a good chance! but you never know with ivies/stanford/those top schools, its all a matter of chance…but GL!</p>

oh and one thing i forgot, the heavy courseload and the intnl awards will really help you…so if you stay on that track i’d say you have a good shot</p>

<p>Hey, I think that you’re on the right track into getting into your dream schools. Now, you just need to keep focusing on your SAT (hope that the class works!), and you seem to be a good applicant! Good Luck at getting intoStanford, hope you end up there! :)</p>

<p>evertheoptimist please stop following me, i know what an ivy league school is, it was a typo. you can’t possibly be much older than me, so just stop. clearly i just want to know that if i WANTED to get in, if the door was open for me.</p>
