My ap lit teach read my essays and said they were amazing and i have great recs. what do you think? thank you so much!

When was your application complete?

like 2 weeks ago, i know rough lol

honestly, i don’t think you’ll get in. had you applied early fall, you would have had a good shot. unfortunately, they got a ridiculous amount of applications (and had to start a waitlist for the first time ever), so at this point, if you haven’t been accepted, and u don’t have very good stats, it’s not gonna happen.

Your GPA is about what the average is this year. Your ACT is at about the
50th percentile of admits from last year, but there are more applicants this year. IU, according to the common data set, looks at GPA, class rank, the rigor of your high school courses, and test scores as the most important items. Extracurriculars, essays, and recommendations are considered but not that important at IU.

I think what will hurt you more than anything is the late application. It seems many applied before January, February 1 at the latest.

If you are instate they may be a little more forgiving of the later application, but OOS, you have a 50-50 shot. People have been admitted with lower stats, but they applied much earlier.

Sorry I could not be more positive.

I was OOS, with a 3.05 GPA and a 26 and I got in. I did apply very early in the fall however. So I think you have a good shot.

lol thanks i was really shocked by the posts though, i must admit. Indiana was def. a last minute safe safety, however i still love the school. but that was very interesting to hear. i def. thought i would be a well qualified applicant. thanks though!

Generally, if you are above a 3.5 GPA and have at least a 25 to 27 ACT with that many ECs you would have no problem. I’d say that I’d still expect you to get in, but it may depend upon how many people accept offers already made (that is, what the university’s yield ratio is). (Last year they had to house some students in the study rooms at the dorms–and they want to avoid that this year.).

You may not get your acceptance until around April 15th for that reason–that is, they just want to be sure that there are still “spots” available to offer. However, I’d expect you are more likely to get an acceptance within the next two weeks. Just wait a few more weeks and you’ll know for sure.

P.S. What happened with your other applications? I know some others who applied to too many matches that just didn’t work out and some that just did not get a good enough financial aid package to go to their first choice school. I’m not saying that’s your case–but this year was especially tough on the application pool because of how many more applications there were in previous years.
