Really important bursar question! :(

After a whole mess with financial aid problems, I have to pay my Bursar Bill now but I'm very confused about the process. If my loans/scholarships are approved, why is it asking to charge my personal checking account? I'm reaaaaaally confused with the steps on how to pay for my term. Can someone please help me? No mean comments please, that really isn't necessary. =(

I know that for me, after my scholarships and loans were approved they got deducted from the big tuition total for fall semester and then charged the remainder to my personal checking account so I’d assume it’s the same for you. Unless your loans and scholarships cover all of fall semester… then maybe they still have to process financial aid for you (since you said you had a “whole mess” of problems with it? idk though). I suggest that you definitely call the school and find out.

My Bursar Account reads pretty much like this:

Current Account Status
Balance:$21,932.00
Estimated: A 20,000 something number
Balance Including Estimated:$1,000 something number

Does this 1,000 come out of my pocket? =( Is the rest of the money taken care of?

Yes, the $1000 needs to be taken out of pocket, UNLESS you accepted a finaid package that covered everything. then i would check and see you accepted everything in your financial aid package and see if there are any withholding documents in your to-do list. But know that unless they offered you a package that covered everything, the remainder is what you have to pay upfront for fall semester before the deadlines. Otherwise where else does it come from? lol

I haven’t looked at my bursar bill yet. I signed up for a tuition payment plan with the company Sallie Maes, and they’ve been taking a set amount of money each month thus far since June and I believe they’ve transferred the money to NYU. Is there anything I need to do regarding the bill or can I ignore it?

Thank you dreamer! They’re telling me that I haven’t finished my promissory note/entrance counseling, even though I completed that a while ago ): otherwise, I had my entire tuition covered.
