Really late extra supps..

I decided after my 3 interviews in this one week that im going to send in a letter of recommendation from my private music instructor (this would be my first "extra" letter outside of the 2 req. teachers / guidance counselor). Is this a bad idea? It's not too late is it? The general concensus from my interviews was that it is never too late to send in extra information. I mean the worst that could happen would be that they don't look at it, right?

Also - along with this new letter, I'm going to try to rush to prepare a CD with a solo or two on the sax.. Would this be sent to admissions office ? Or to the music department? I'm not sure -- probably admissions office right?

Also wondering - what you guys thought would be the absolute latest "Deadline" to send in anything. I just need some time to get back my solos into topnotch shape before i make the CD...

Also.. what would happen if UPenn hypothetically read my app today, and then my extra letter / music CD only reached them in a week, or 2 weeks, or perhaps a month. Would they take the letter/CD into account? Disregard it? Throw it out? -- Would it possibly change a rejection to an acceptance? What are your thoughts...

Any ideas/opinions would be much appreciated - thanks guys, Good luck

If you're sending in a CD, send it to the admissions office. They'll forward it to the music department to be looked at.
I think you're already past the deadline, but maybe they'll accept some late stuff? But I doubt a CD is going to make or break you, especially since you haven't prepared it for the 1/1 deadline.

I had an extra letter of Rec. from an alumni sent December 1st - 11 days before the ED deadline - and I got in. It also showed up on the portal as them having received it, so yours should get there.

^^ do you mean 11 days before ED decisions? bc if so, that would be.. amazing... thnks guys -- and congrats on your decision!

^^Yes, I meant the ED Decisions :P but I was surprised they accepted it too. My regional director emailed me to tell me that they received it and it was placed in my file

Send stuff. I sent extra recommendations well after the deadline, and they were happy to have it. They are still sorting through mail and organizing stuff like crazy now, you must keep in mind. Tens of thousands of applications...

oh great - had you gotten in touch with your regional director prior to him emailing you? or was it like an automatic response that was sent to you after they had filed your new information?

I had previously contacted her to ask her questions about the supplement (like "can it be emailed", etc).

oh oh -- did you Email the Rec / Music Supp?

Or send it via snailmail?

I had the person who wrote the supp. email it directly to my regional director.
