so schedulizer is showing that i could either have a discussion for math 1920 really early (8 AM), or really late (7:30 PM).

any current college students have any thoughts on which to pick?

i'm not sure if people really ever want to go to class that late in the day, but i might have trouble waking up at 8 AM. also are discussions mandatory?

If you have enough discipline to get up early in the morning, I’d do 8am (especially if it’s just one discussion a week). You’re going to want to be able to do other stuff at 7:30 lol.

remember it is about a 15 minute walk to the engineering quad (where most discussions are). I like having stuff at night then it’s out of the way and I have more free time during the day.

I had 8 am math discussion first semester last year. It sucked, a lot. Then again I had 730 pm physics lab second semester and that sucked a lot too, and that was only once a week.

I’d say it was more annoying to have to go to a class that late at night, but it was more painful to wake up that early. Pick whichever one you think you’re more likely to attend the most sessions of, it can be hard sometimes to force yourself to go to a class at a difficult time when attendance is optional.

I’m going for the morning one. I’m thinking dropping everything I’m doing and walking all the way down to engr quad just for an hour is going to be a pain in the a**. I’d rather get it over with in the morning and have free time the rest of the day.

i had 8:30 classes M-Th last semester, and it was actually really helpful in my studying schedule. i was usually out of class when my friends had class, so i had a lot of time to go to the libraries and get work done.

IF, however, that 8:30 class is going to be your only 8:30 class of the week, i’d recommend not doing it, as you’ll be much more likely to skip it if you don’t get into a habit of waking up at 8:30 daily.

^That. You have to realize that 7 PM isn’t “late” in any measure of the word in college. When you’re up hanging out with your friends until 3 AM, you’ll regret that you have to be the first to sleep since you have 8 AM class the next day, while your 7 PM class will be long forgotten by that time.

yeah, i dont think its bad because its too late, but i think it’d just be what ananya said, a “pain in the a**” to do. at least its on monday and wednesday for me, so its not like i’ll be doing anything those nights anyway.

well i set up a schedulizer where my classes dont start until 11:45, but Im not sure if thatll work out now. if you dont take compsci, i think you can get your classes to start at 10. and if you dont take compsci and you dont take an ENGRI course, you can have your schedule start after 11 :D

^ but they recommend that you get both compsci and intro to engineering out of the way freshman year…which would mean taking one of those either semester, no? or i guess you could take both second semester.
