Really like Brown, some input please

<p>I really like Brown and would want to contribute to singing groups and the music department as a student there, as well as pursuing a major in environmental science. I know numbers and clubs don’t guarantee anything for colleges, but just curious to hear some feedback, esp. if you do music at Brown:</p>

<p>GPA: weighted: 97.9
Class rank: Top 7/205 = top 5 % (school does not do ranking) possibly top 5 students I dont know
SATs:
Math - 690
Verbal - 710
Writing - 660
Math I - 670
Biology M - 680
French - 640</p>

<p>All accelerated except for history, doubled up on sciences junior and senior year
APs:

Music:
-Accomplished pianist of 13 years: Winner of NJ State Competition, accepted as possible participant on “From the Top” show on National Public Radio, Teen Arts and State Teen Arts for 4 consecutive years, etc. Resume to be sent with application.
-Choir President (10, 11, 12) Chamber and Concert Choirs (9, 10, 11, 12)

<p>I know my sats are weak, but Im NOT taking them again, I’d rather die. Also, I have heard that Brown puts less emphasis on SAts and more on the person and their talents. My recommendations will be great, esp. from my AP environmental teacher and the music teacher at my school (known her for 7 years, runs madrigals, choir, etc). Sending a CD I made with 4 piano songs and a vocal song which I played and sang for, along with piano resume. Essay about Ecuador, its pretty good so far, I dont know just looking for some feedback. Thanks</p>

<p>I wouldn't give the whole Brown doesn't count SAT's thing a whole lot of weight...they all do</p>

<p>I'm planning on doing either environmental science, environmental biology, or just biology, but in that order of choice. Also, I want to minor in music</p>

<p>Brown doesn't do minors, but you can probably take the courses with all the academic freedom.</p>

<p>As far as your stats, your gpa and class rank are fine. Your SATs may be a bit on the lower end. Work on your essay, and make sure that it's amazing. I also like your extracurricular activities.</p>

<p>no minors :(...But Brown does offer a double major, right? How many credits do you usually need to get a major?</p>

<p>about 12-18, depending. Minors are meaningless anyways. all it means is that you took a bunch of courses in an area. You can still do that...</p>
