i sympathize but ivy admission offices (and real world situations) need more than just hard working students who may not be able to perform on their feet, under stress, at the sats or elsewhere…

I have to add that this doesn’t look all that good either - only 4 core classes? Or is that standard at your school? Does your high school have a tradition of sending a few to Penn each year? Does Penn know your school well?

my high school only offers 5 ap classes n i’ve taken every one of them 3 of them my senior year i was never able to take honors languages due to scheduling conflicts and our high school has always had blocked scheduling until this year which is a hybrid

we have about one student go to penn in the past couple of years. my counselor told me tat the one year we had 11 apply, 8 accepted, and none of them went and ever since then, they haven’t been very generous

although my highschool may not seem very competitive to many schools nationwide, its actually the very competive to schools from our region tat don’t even offer ap classes

I jus made a few changes and listed all the awards n stuff would tat be considered a laundry list?

Do you know phung lee?

haha
yeaaa
i did a competition with him
who r u??

We (me and some random asian) took ecology two years ago and also took health science. I remember you and Lee were sitting in the front and we sat in the back and you gave us death glares while we waited 30 min for that guy to come and give us a verbal test.

I stalked Lee the entire time at Science Olympiad, and at FBLA, and I went to gov school and remember seeing you post on facebook about it.

I hear Lee’s at Yale (I like to call him from time to time and leave him naughty messages.)

I’m also applying ED to Penn and I also don’t know what I’m going to do if I don’t get in – probably just going to give up on life. Best of luck to you and maybe we’ll see each other again at Penn.

lol
wow well its a small world isn’t it? haha
how did u manage to figure out tat it was me…? like how?? its kinda creepy haha especially since u stalked phong lee…haha

we gave u death glares?? i think phong may have but not me haha if i did im sryyy i would never glare at random people

but phong isn’t in fbla…although i am…could u be stalking me too? haha

i also went to gov school but im guessing we didn’t go to the same one

u mind befriending me off facebook since we already know each other…or r we already friends?

Oh, I get all these EC’s mixed up. Lee was at PJAS; I remember him winning some top award and I kept asking him to the dance but he wouldn’t go with me.

I’m not sure exactly how I figured it out, but I took a guess from the gov health science/ecology science olympiad/PA asian girl.

Actually, our applications are incredibly similar now that I think of it, with all the Science olympiad and FBLA regional/state medals. (I took disease detectives last year too wow…) We lost half of our science olympiad team this year and I don’t know if I can pull the entire weight to get to states but we’ll see each other at regionals (at least, I’ll see you o.O). Physics, chem lab, herpatology, food science, something else. FBLA too…

I’ll ask you if you got into Penn. Good luck again and I’m sorry I didn’t just PM you instead of posting in the thread.

Edit: And to instill any hope, Penn said good grades in school, which you have since you’re valedictorian, can make up for poor standardized test scores.

wait so…u had a crush on phong leee??? haha
hmm im trying to think back to tat day…well obviously ur a female…not to be racist or nething but r u indian? in navy polos? haha i doubt it

well ur a very good guesser plz friend me on faceboook!! i wanna noe who u r since u no so much bout me already haha

same here we lost all seniors on our sci oly team n our advisor who retired this year…so i highly doubt we’ll go to states this year, last year was our first in a realli long time.

good luck to u too! i hope we can go to penn together =)

Chinese male. I don’t use facebook anymore. Only thing I use is AIM if you want that.

I asked Phong if he’d go to prom with me this year, but I haven’t heard back yet…

oh LOL ahahha

okay gimme ur aim

im gonna find out who u r

which gov school did u go too?

yeah your stats are really impressive but get that SAT or take the ACT and get yourself a good standardized test score and you should get into UPenn, aka 32 ACT or 2150 SAT and I think you’re a match(but hard to call anyone a match at Ivy Leagues with the competiton these days) it’s a crapshoot

yea i thought i was a match also…until my scores came…but then i feel like being an asian female hurts me. i was looking at the thread for for the class of 2012 n the trend seems to be rejecting asian females…

Yeah not meant to be racist but asian competition is tough

Dear student,

As requested, I incorporated your scores, GPA, leadership, and extracurriculars into a systematically devised function of calculatory means that I developed to precisely calculate percent chance of admission to various universities in the US and abroad. The results are as follows (these are the percent chances that you will be accepted at the below named institutions of higher educatory education):

UPenn - 11.821%

Please note that these are only derived from my own personal formula which seems to accurately predict admissions chances pretty well.

I also don’t usually go into explanations, but I must say that the only reason that percentage is so low is because of your standardized test scores. Just work on getting them up (if you can), and your chances would greatly increase. I calculated your percent change of admission with an ACT score of 33 and your percentage rose to 38.807% (which is fantastic for any Ivy). Hope that helps!

so i took the sats today n im pretty confident i improved in the sats n acts

Sorry, but I’m going to have to disagree with you superdrive021 on the “people w/ ad grades and good SAT shows they had more access to resources”

I studied very hard for over two years to recieve decent SAT scores without using any resources (except my Collegeboard SAT book and a list of vocab i got from different online sources)

as for SumKuteAngel…
dont worry about it! I know some people w/ low SAT scores who got into ivies! :)

SumKuteAngel, is this how you write normally ? If it is, then I doubt you can improve your SAT score of CR590 and W610.

I personally do not see an Asian female from PA getting into Penn with an 1870(at least not without a combination of insane hooks.) I’m not trying to be a jerk or anything, but this is my honest assessment. The kids who get in with scores like 1870 will be the football/basketball recruits and the low-income African American students from Philadelphia.
