I know I abandoned my earlier thread, but I've thought more about what I really want to ask know. So I've been accepted to five schools: UMich, Michigan State, WashU-St.Louis, Vanderbilt, and Notre Dame. Right now, I have the most money to Michigan State, as well as a Professorial Assistantship, but after really visiting, I don't think I'll be able to do well there, the campus is just way too big for me and really overwhelming. I want to go pre-med with an outside major, possibly something like political science, so it's really important to me that I can fit in and do well. I've narrowed my other choices down between Notre Dame and UMich (I think, I haven't told anyone no yet) I haven't gotten any money to UM besides my Michigan Merit Money, which is $1000/yr. I've visited campus and I like it, I'm just not sure it's right for me. Another reason I'm debating is that I've been first in my class for four years, and I've been killing myself for it. A large % of my class goes there, and I feel like if I knew I was just going to end up there, I wouldn't have killed myself for those years. Anyway, the biggest problem is money. My family's income is just enough that we don't get any financial aid, but we also can't afford to pay a ton each year either. Sorry, i know this is long, but I just don't know what to do, and right now, i can't find myself getting excited about college without being overwhelmed. Any advice would be really helpful...

I'm also in the honors program at UM too, if that helps any

i'm instate too.. and you're right pretty much everyone goes to UMICH so i know what you mean about going there.. it would be pretty lame... i think about 10% of every graduating class in my HS goes to Umich (like 20ish).. so i know a few of kids with 25 on their ACTs who got in.. umich = not so elite anymore...

I would go to Notre Dame (just for the above reason)... but WashU is cool.

I'd love to go to ND but it could settle me with a ton of debt

Did WUSTL come thru for you financial aid-wise?

U Mich honors is very prestigious.

No I didn't get any aid from washu

What's the difference in cost between U Mich and MSU?

Is U Mich's campus and size much smaller than MSU? The Professorial Assistantship seems like it'd give you great access and benefits not available to most students.

There's not too much of a difference, I think UM might be a tiny bit more expensive, but not much if that

MSU's campus is really big, not too mention the actual number of undergrads. MSU is like an actual city in itself, it has its own police force and everything. Ann Arbor and UM is much more condensed

I would go to UMich Honors then. It's foolish to go into too much debt for undergrad. Save the money for grad.

umm if you're from mich you know MSU = UMICH rejects.. pretty much true. there are exceptions

I think I've pretty much ruled out MSU

good because friends don't let friends go to state (lol, saw it on a t-shirt)
