Really Need Help Narrowing List

I am looking at colleges good in anthro. My interests lie in biological anthropology and archaeology and my list so far is:
UNC Chapel Hill
UW Madison
UNC Davis
Northwestern
Stanford
NYU
Boston U
UWash
WUStL
UMich
UPenn
UIUC
Should I add more or take a few off or is this good for now?

Without knowing any of your stats, it’s hard to say whether your list has too many safeties, reaches, etc. Just keep in mind that many of the schools you’ve listed are extremely selective.

What are your stats?

you’re in Oregon, right?

You have a lot of OOS publics on your list. Will your family pay the high OOS costs for them? If not, take them off. Only UNC-Ch gives need based aid to OOS students (if you qualify for what you need after they look at family income/assets).

If your family will pay full freight for wherever you go, then your stats will help determine where you should cut from your list.

Okay I am not asking for chances, just what would be good choices in a best case scenario. Once I have this list and everything else squared up I’ll ask about chances.

mom2collegekids is pointing out that creating a good list includes consideration of your family’s financial situation. There is no point in applying to a great academic match that you cannot afford.

I understand that financial situation is important (especially to my dad) and htat is why I have cheaper ones (UNC, UW) and one that participates in tuition exchange (BU) on my list. Right now I’m only looking at academics so I know what the top choices could be and as limits come into place work downward.

Let me get this straight…you have a list of schools in the top 50 of all universities in the US. You want random people from the Internet that know nothing about you to tell you which of those schools to take off your list? Or perhaps add some more?

Time to stop asking for suggestions on the Internet, and man/woman up. Go to all of these schools websites and decide for yourself which ones to keep…or just keep them all. All of them would be great choices. If you want to add more , go back to the list of top 50 schools from US News and add them and go research them yourself.

Just do it.

and htat is why I have cheaper ones (UNC, UW)

How are they cheaper? Don’t they each cost about $40k per year. That’s fine if your dad will pay AT LEAST that much…but what if your dad will only pay $25k or some other amount?

Get some financial clarification from your dad as to how much he’ll pay. Going thru all of this could be a waste of time if you come up with a list hat is unaffordable.

Since you ask, I think you should take some off.
