Really Need Some Feedback!

This was my first year at Chapel Hill, and it totally kicked me in the face. I currently have a GPA of 3.07 because I got a D in Econ and a C in biology. I was on the pre-med track until I realized that it really was not something that I (A) have any passion for and (B) can see myself doing for the rest of my life.

I'm wondering if my two bad grades would severely hinder my ability to get into law school? I switched to pre-law/English and pre-nursing rather than biology/pre-med which I had before.

I read that law schools care more for your cumulative GPA, but do they also weigh heavily on specific grades that you received particularly during your freshman year?

I know that UNC totally manhandled me this year, and I'm really worried that my bad grades are going to prevent me from getting into law school.

Feedback would be more than appreciated!!

Cum GPA only. They rarely look at individual grades.

btw: if you decide to retake Econ, law schools do not offer a grade replacement option (even tho your college might) – all grades count for LS.

Bluebayou is correct that they almost never look at individual grades, caring only for cumulative GPA. I do want to add that I would be more hesitant than it appears from your post that deciding against medical school means deciding for law school. Law school is a risky investment these days, and though you will be applying at least 4 years out (and hopefully 6 having gotten some work experience) I expect it will not change much.
