Okay, I am a junior, visited many colleges, and found 12 that I really like, and I can pretty much see myself at all of them pretty much. I have researched all the schools on my list so much and feel like they all would be a good fit. However, I feel 12 schools is WAY too much to apply to and i really would like to somehow cut my list down to about 8 schools so I can really concentrate on those 8 or so applications. I honestly don't know how I am going to drop 4. Can anyone help me make my decision on which 4 I should drop? I am considering all of the following's undergrad business schools:

Reach:
-PENN (WHARTON)
-CORNELL (AEM)
-GEORGETOWN (MCDONOUGH)
-WILLIAM AND MARY (2 YEAR PROGRAM)

Slight Reach:
-BOSTON COLLEGE (CARROLL)
-NYU (STERN)

Match:
-VILLANOVA
-LEHIGH
-UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND

SAFETY:
-BOSTON UNIVERSITY
-NORTHEASTERN
-SUNY BINGHMATON

This is what I would like in a university:
-nice nice nice nice campus!! doesn't matter where, whether it be urban or rural
-sports teams, lots of school spirit!
-medium sized
-not an overwhelming greek scene/party scene
-lots to do on campus (and off if possible)
-prestigious
-fun place to be!
-okay i think that is it.. haha

Since Northeastern is early notification, could you then eliminate Boston…? Also, according to people in the know in NY, Binghamton is not a safety for anyone in NY anymore…
Otherwise, your list looks balanced…

Cornell will be much easier to get into ED than Wharton, so if you love both and don’t have a 2300 plus and a very high rank, I’d advise using the ED for Cornell.

Northeastern, Boston University, and SUNY Bing are not safeties, especially if you are applying into their business programs. I would put them as matches. If you can get into Villanova than you can get into BC. BC is a match. Stern is more of a reach than W&M. Wharton is equivalent to acceptance into HYPS in my opinion. Northeastern easily has the best urban campus out of your list. Bing is THE worst lol.

“Cornell will be much easier to get into ED than Wharton, so if you love both and don’t have a 2300 plus and a very high rank, I’d advise using the ED for Cornell.”

Has anyone seen AEM’s acceptance rate recently? Its around 10%, it’ll be no walk in the park. Yes, it’ll probably be easier than Wharton but it’s still one of the most difficult programs to get into in the country.

i am currently unable to supply my full stats to be chanced at any of these schools at the present time. i have not received my class rank, final gpa, and i have not finished with testing quite yet. so posting what i have now or predicting scores and such wouldnt really be affective. however, through my grades and practice tests, i feel like the list i posted is accurate. i just wanted to make this thread to see if anyone can help me in narrowing my list somehow bc im having quite some trouble. thanks for everyones responses though! oh and hmom5… what ACT score would you say would put me well into the running at wharton? thanks

Yeah Wharton is a killer to get in to. By far the most pretigious undergrad b-school. But off your list I’d say take a hard look at Cornell AEM and NYU Stern, both are also elite business schools and are great programs.

looking through your list of “Requirements,” might i suggest duke? i know its not NARROWING your list down, but duke definitely meets all of your requirements. btw, i know you might think duke’s greek scene is ridiculous, but penn and duke are basically the same. i just think duke’s campus is nicer :)

BU doesn’t have what most people would call a nice campus. Lehigh is big in frats. NYU no campus and sports are really minor. Have you checked out Fordham, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Miami (Ohio), Miami (FL), Pittsburgh, U of New Hampshire, Wake Forest (though big frat scene), and Indiana(also significant frats)?

NY: according to other threads, you post your rank to be under the 10%…bad news: there is no way unless you build a new facility that you will be accepted to Wharton,(or according to other posters CornellAEM), unfortunately…therefore, if you apply ED to either Wharton or Cornell and you are deferred it kind of eliminates the other one on your reach list…if you are going to try for a reach ED it should be one you could possibly be accepted at…How about Emory? NYU Stern?

well, that was a while ago, earlier on in this year when i wasn’t quite sure where my rank falls. my school tells us this fall. that is why i didn’t put any stats on this thread because i honestly don’t know where i am going to fall when i do receive my rank. i can say, however, that if i do fall just outside of the top 10%, i would not be applying to wharton or cornell.

and i was looking at duke but they don’t have an undergrad business school/ a BS in business administration so that really wouldn’t work out…

and notre dame, unc, and usc are a bit too far away. thanks though!
