I am an international transfer student which means I do not know much details about these five universities except their rankings in USNEWS and the websites.

frankly, I am quite confused about how to pick up one.

My major is SOCIOLOGY, yes, which means I do not want a job but seeking a chance to study. So whether it is a corn field or a downtown place will be just fine for me.

However the most important thing is that I wanna go to graduate school after graduation, so maybe the academic wise will be considered. and the same things i will consider is the tuition and fee.

thx u guys. I really don't know how to chose.

PS. i am not a big fan about football, and I am quite fund of history and literature.

You don’t have to enjoy football to study at tOSU & PSU (ok… you kind of do…haha). I can not speak for other schools, but there are over 1,000 student organizations at tOSU alone that one may choose to participate in. Whatever your interests are, you can always find someone who shares them.

So far as Sociology is concerned, your best choices are tOSU and PSU imho. And I am certain that you should have known that based on the rankings for the majors that you are interested in, tOSU ranks the highest amongst all four schools that you mentioned. However, in terms of overall academic reputation, I would probably pick UIUC instead.

I am no Sociology major, but, tOSU does rank 30+ spots ahead of UIUC & PITT on USNWR. Therefore, more likely than not, a definitive academic gap in this particular discipline at graduate level should in some ways reflect its undergrad academic strength. Above all, I’ve always thought that Sociology is the study of human interaction and that Columbus being the largest city should offer you added bonus that others can’t, even though you had stated that location matters little to you. Still, I believe that you should get a better feel of the schools and their surroundings through campus visits, thereby determining the ‘fit factor’ based on your own vibe.

Academically however, tOSU is one of the most improved institutions in the country in recent years. As a proud buckeye alumnus, I shamelessly urge you to give Ohio State a strong consideration. Anyway, hope this helps?!

Go Bucks! [One University](http://www.oneframework.osu.edu/index.htm)

wow! thank u for ur help, that really gived me more useful imformation.
honestly, yes, tOSU is the best choice not only the sociology ranking but also the academic field, and otherwise she is located in a really good place. The only thing bothered me for a while was that she did not tell me how many credics i can transfer from my university to tOSU, which means i will know that after I come to campus while PSU gave me answer and UIUC may give me answer soon. I keep telling myself that, well, u may waste a year to be a sophomore again but so what? but OSU really make me feel ‘unsafe’.
I will consider ur advice and THX again!!!

and, forgive me about my english… i guess that’s another question when i come to us…
