dude… people have already advised you. stop spamming, yeah? and seriously, a lot of different people suggested a lot of different schools for you- go research about them online- go into each of the college threads- see if you fit in there- and whether they fit into your requirements. come down to a list of 10ish schools and THEN ask for advice again… that’ll be more helpful, i’d guess… :)

don’t have anyone to help you out?? help yourself then!! :)

dude i have made a list after a lot of research … here it is :-

1) University of Toronto - OK I need advice on this one … i dont know whether i fit the requirements because , the average grades are not put up on any of the sites that i have looked into … and I want to know … my chance

2)University of Waterloo - I am Interested in the Co-op program for mechanical engineering . about 12 people from my school got in here , a few with grade lower than mine . I had also seen their website which Stated that the require only 80% from Indian CBSE student in Grade 12 only … i need advice on this 1 too

2 people til now have suggested Cornell and Stanford … i am really confused … college stats books show only American GPA … which is of no use for me .

Contact the person who handles international admissions at the schools in which you are interested, share your stats, and ask if you’d be a competitive applicant.

dntw8up is that appropriate to do?

Unfortunately we do not pre-evaluate applications I will not tell you whether you are or are not competitive. Your best bet, if interested in the University of Michigan is to apply early. I hope this information helps and if you have additional questions, please contact our live “chat” feature at [University of Michigan - Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.umich.edu) . Again, I apologize I cannot pre-evaluate your application but given that we receive approximately 30,000 applications each year this would take a great deal o our time as admissions counselors.

I sent them a message again asking whether they could at least tell me if I am as competetive as the average students entering as freshman … and i got a similar respone

I have got this response form numerous College admissions counselors … Its actually getting embarrassing now

you should consider clemson

Many liberal arts colleges have an admissions person who is knowledgeable about and helpful with international applicant concerns. Universities don’t tend to provide this sort of service. Will your current school tell you the colleges/universities previous students with your stats have attended? Absent help from your current school or the schools you want to attend, you are likely on your own and will have to infer from your standardized test scores whether you should invest in applying to any given school.

If you have not already done so, make an appointment with the counselors at the closest office of EducationUSA [Educational Advising Centers ? EducationUSA](http://eca.state.gov/educationusa/centers/#INDIA)

These people have experience with helping students just like you find good places to study in the US. They should be able to give you a sense of how likely it is that you can get into the universities that you are looking at.

As an international student (even one who doesn’t need financial aid), there are no safety schools for you in the US. There are matches and reaches. Your safety school is in your own country. Find one there that you can be reasonably happy with in case everything else in the admissions process goes wrong.

Wishing you all the best.

Why dont u just improve your SAT to lets say 2150-2200 and take 2 SAT IIs (like math II and World History)
This will make you much more competitive and given the fact you dont need FA you can even hope to get into Ivies like Upenn and Cornell which are not need-based for international students and money REALLY matters.
Take TOEFL as well
Good luck :)

i think he has pretty weak transcript for the ivies

Its is just that i dont want to face an outright rejection … i need some good respectable safety universities

ABET, the organization that accredits engineering programs in the US, finds MANY mechanical engineering programs in its database. Here is a link: http://www.abet.org/schoolareaeac.asp

By and large, engineering is engineering. You can get a decent education at any one of these institutions. Look through the list and find some that look “safer” to you.
