Really nervous about getting rescinded

Hey so I got into University of Virginia early action as an out of stater and my firsts quarter was pretty good I had a 76 in ap spanish which was extremely difficult for me but everything else was in the 90's or high 80's. This quarter however I've been struggling. My other grades are the same but my spanish grade is a 55 this quarter and I'm extremely nervous I'm going to get rescinded. This is the first time ever I've ever gotten a grade this low. I really don't wanna get rescinded and I think I can get my spanish grade into the 80's for my last 2 quarters. Do you think I have a chance of not getting rescinded or have any ideas of how I may have a betetr chance of not getting rescinded?

Send your regional adcomm person a written explanation. Make sure you send communication without typo’s. use appropriate grammar too. If it is one course you should be totally fine. Get a tutor!

UVa doesn’t have regional admissions representatives. Talk to your GC about how your mid year transcript is reported. Does it show quarterly grades or simply semester grades. If it simply shows semester grades you need to determine how much of a drop you’ve had in Spanish, and overall, and decide if this is something you should preemptively contact admissions about. In the meantime be honest with yourself about why your grades have gone down. If the material is harder then look into extra help offered by your teacher, tutoring through NHS, or if needed a private tutor for one subject. If it’s been a bit of a Sr. slump the look at how your study habits have changed and think about how you can alter those in the second semester to get back on track.

UVa isn’t in the business of admitting students only to find reasons to revoke that admittance. They want you! They also want you to finish your Sr year well. Look at the big picture, not just one quarter. If you are asked by the University about your grades they are simply looking for an honest answer of what happened, what your plans are for success in the second semester, and how you plan to manage a strenuous work load at the university. Recognizing why we trip up and being able to course correct is an important quality. Having a poor grade/semester and not being able to identify the reason or articulate why, and what you would do differently can cause concern.
