I really blew my subject tests...looking at very low 700s or high 600s.

you could theoretically get like a 740 or 750 depending on the curve...i skipped 9 or 10 and missed more and am expecting 700 or lower, the curve on math ii is supposed to be huge

Looks like you did very well - up to a 780 or 790 - see www.sparknotes.com/testprep/books/sat2/math2c/chapter2section4.rhtml

wow, that raw score sheet sure is comforting, i'm guessing i missed at least 4 or 5 thoughon top of my 10 blanks, so if that sheet is accurate i'm looking at a ~700ish (680-710), which is fine with me! i was honestly expecting worse, and this would be my worst sat score every neway, so it doesnt matter too much i guess

All with no prep, no previous study for practical purposes, except a little math, i took Lit, USH, & Math 1 today. The practice tests were so far of base.

By practice tests:

Lit: 760
USH: 740
Math 1: 620

What I'm feeling after the test:

Lit: 670-720
USH: 670-740
Math 1: 700-750

Wow, this thread made me feel like crap. A 700 is considered "blowing" the test? That's an excellent score.

Well, I really shouldn't fell so bad about high 600's in subjects I havent studied in high school, but I REALLY want to go to PENN, so anything that hurts those chances is BAD NEWS.

Besides, these are just the subjects I'm good at.

Potentially:

Span: 520
Chem: 580
Phys: 580

So, I really want a decent (read: 700+) score to make me feel good

In case anyone missed my little venting post about taking the Math 2 before, I didn't have a graphing calculator to use the last time I took the test and got a 630. I knew I was going to do poorly, but I'm wondering, is my expectations of getting only 2 or 3 wrong on top of about 7 or 8 omitted unreasonable? I don't know how I got a 630 last time. I think I may have missed a bubble and incorrectly bubbled a few in a row. That makes me seem arrogant about my math skills, but I felt almost the same today when taking the Math 2 test (using a graphing calculator), so it worries me that I may have not improved much despite the very few hours I put into studying.

i didn't use a graphing calculator too... hm... looks like i shld have used one too

I'm sorry, but I find this kind of funny. Everyone is worrying about their Math IIC scores, but there's hardly ever any mention of worry for the other SAT II scores. I got a 710 the first time I took the math, and I did a LOT worse the second time (still wondering why I retook it...) Though I am a bit worried about it, especially after looking at everyone else's scores, I've kind of resigned myself to it lol. I was hoping for a high French score since I'm going in as a language major, but I only got 700 and it's too late to take it again anyways. O well. Anyways, I digress. Is everyone's forte math? Because mine sure isn't lol~~

i was ticked after getting a 680 on my USH, and i took it again this morning, and i might have even gone down. This does not please me :(

had a new graphing calc but no idea when to use it! ended up with a lowly 700! retaking in december.. but too late for ED! :(

btw, is a 730 in physics good enough?

i got a 730 in physics.. i mean its not a bad score..

How do percentiles on SAT IIs match up with SAT I percentiles? I know much fewer kids take SAT IIs, but does anyone have exact numbers? I feel like, what, 1/10 of kids take SAT IIs vs. SAT Is? Also, people take different subjects and stuff, so even fewer people are taking a particular SAT II.. I know an 800 in Math IIC is like a 90th or 88th percentile, but only the top kids in math are taking it.. so what does the percentile mean..?

I think a 700+ on a SAT Subject Test is pretty darn good, moreso than a 700+ on SAT I, but I'm not sure..

the percentiles for satIIs are going to be much lower b/c of the people who take them; the majority of people who take satIIs are applying to competitive schools, and these kids generally tend to score higher on tests. Also when u take the SATIIs, most people tend to take the test in an area that they are generally strong in, so the most likely will do pretty well and when u have so many people that do well, it brings the percentiles down

i got a 680 lit! tht's sub700!! but i'm applying to SEAS, so i don't think it really matters!

gmman, math iic 800 was 88th percentile last month (oct) SAT math 800 (hell even 770) is 99th percentile

math percentile is harsh..

that is pretty bad.. 800 and 88th percentile? my friend got 800 and was 94th percentile when she took in june! but is it tt the october SATs were more competitive? for my SAT1 math.. i made 2 errors on both my sittings in may and october, but got a 790 and 760 respectively... n i was very sure at least 1 of the qns i got wrong in the october sitting was the open ended.. wch does not minus any marks.. but still i was 98% (same as my may sitting..) but the score is like 30 less!~ i wonder why

elemental - it sounds like the October test was more competitive. They curve each test, and depending on the competition for that sitting, you can get a slight advantage or disadvantage. I'm surprised, though, because I've always heard October is the easier curve, at least for SAT Is. Maybe that's not the case anymore.

I was screwed in my SAT Ii math II.
On practice tests I constantly got 760-800. On main day 660.
Also i am a student in India and already done with multivar calculus (pretty well on it too). So I guess you cant really make predictions about this test.
IMO the colleges should lay more emphasis on good math grades rather than SAT's.
