Really odd chance

Im looking at top 30 schools (Harvard, Cornell (ED,) Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, UNC, JHU, Uchicago)

Class: 2014 (skipped junior year of high school) was that a good idea?
GPA- 3.8 ish
ACT: 30
AP: English, Government, Biology (all my school can offer)
Hardest courts load possible
Top 10% of class
EC: varsity tennis (letter), varsity cross country (letter), varsity football, varsity band (letter), JV track, interact club, pep club, French club, NHS, Drama club, Student council (leadership position), Finalist Ohio state yoyo competition, finalist Mid-east regional yoyo competition, regional awards in solos and ensemble, volunteer hours with angels for animals, football camps, medical conference at Northwestern, volunteer coaching tennis, volunteered helping cell donor drive, earned 12 credit hours at Youngstown State University's campus

Any thoughts?

Harvard- High Reach
Cornell (ED)- High Match
Stanford- High Reach
Berkeley- Reach
UCLA- Match
UNC- Match
JHU- Match
U Chicago- High Reach

You need a better balance; you have 8 schools, half of which you don’t have a good shot at, and half are maybes. If you’re dead set on 8 schools, try having 2 high reaches (any 2 from Harvard/Stanford/Chicago,) two high matches (Cornell and maybe a Vanderbilt type school,) two matches (UCLA or UNC) and two safeties (maybe a UC Boulder or your local state school, if all else fails.)

I don’t mean to be a buzzkill, but we need to be realistic here. You’re a top student, so you deserve to go to a top school. However, if you apply to 8 top top schools and they don’t work out, you’ll be stuck either waiting a year or at a community college, both of which you don’t belong in.

Thanks, I have more schools in mind. Those were just the ones I’m looking intently at. Also, for some odd reason Uchicago sends me mail every week. They even sent me a free T-shirt in the mail and told me if it wasn’t my size they’d give me a new one when I visited. Im not very interested in that school as most.

Bumpppppppp

You seem to be a top candidate for these schools, but your ACT score is low and your ECs look a little bit scattered. Bring the scores up to a 33+ and your chances at all of these schools will be much better. Also, try and get some leadership positions in the activities in which you are involved the most. Good luck!

With GPA at 3.8 and ACT at 30:

Harvard- High Reach
Cornell (ED)- Reach
Stanford- High Reach
Berkeley- Reach
UCLA- High match
UNC- Match
JHU- Low reach
U Chicago- High Reach

Bummmmmppp

You need to get your ACT up. Assuming it’s at 30:

Harvard: High Reach
Cornell (ED): Reach
Stanford: High Reach
Berkeley: Reach
JHU: Low Reach
U Chicago: High Reach

Not too familiar with UNC and UCLA, but I think they should be matches.

For a shot at admissions to the top schools, and Ivy’s, you ACT score really needs to come up. Take it again, and try to get a 33 or higher. But, with the current 30:

Harvard: High Reach
Cornell (ED): Reach
Stanford: High Reach
UCB: Low Reach/ Reach
Johns Hopkins: Low Reach
U Chicago: High Reach
UCLA: High Match
UNC: High Match

Chance me back?

Bummmmmmmmp

bumpbumpbump

Everyone has given you the same advice and I agree. All are reach to high reach unless you raise your ACT score

My ACT as of now is a 31 super score being (33/32/31/33) and I gained captain of two other sports captain of the mock trial team and 2 other leadership positions. I’ve also shortened my long list of colleges to Stanford, Brown, UVA, U of Miami, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Rice, and JHU. How am I looking as of now?

Check of these schools do superscore ACT. Most don’t.

Bumpppppppp
