For those of you with last names shorter than 5 letters, did you start all the way at the left and fill in as many of the the "empty" (blank) bubbles (at the top of the bubble column) as you needed at the end of your name? I'm really paranoid that i bubbled wrong and will have to wait like an extra month for my scores.

Ya, I'm pretty sure that's how I did it.

My proctor said not to, and I've never done that, and it's always worked for me... but whatever.

Uhoh.

Blondie, how did you bubble in your last name, then? Did you not bubble any circles at all for the last few spaces?

I never filled in any of the bubbles after my name either. And I got my scores online 8 days later.

I just wrote four letters and left the other ones blank.

Is there any way I can get my scores on time in the situation I'm in? In fact, when I first bubbled in my last name, I left two spaces blank, but then I saw that there were 'blank bubbles' and I asked my proctor whether I should fill them in, and he said yes. The problem is that he didn't really look like he knew what he was talking about.

Did you put your Social Security Number on ALL of your test forms? (I think it asks twice, 2 times on each, the writing sheet & the answer form). If you did, it should automatically match to your original registration (if you did it online).

If you didn't provide your SSN, but you DID take the ACT before (or the PLAN), the ACT is able to catch most mistakes (they claim that 10% of all test takers will supply inconsistent info at some point in time). If so, your test will probably be flagged (if your address + other info was the same). Your scores may be delayed as they verify this info.

If you didn't take the ACT before, OR provide your SSN (or they didn't catch it), it'll probably arrive on time and incorrect in your mailbox. You'll have to pay $8.50 and write a letter within a year of the examination.

For future reference, you should always provide an SSN- it helps with these mistakes.

For more info, see I think there's a mistake on my score report. What should I do?

I wanted to give an update on this issue in case future testers have the same question. I called the ACT center and spoke to a supervisor who said that either bubbling in 'blank bubbles' at the end of a short last name or leaving those bubbles blank is acceptable and will match up with your registration information - so scores should not be delayed for this reason.
