i’m in a very similar situation but as an international. try an choose universities that don’t worry as much about school grades.

my advice (probably mediocre, but hey, you’re the one asking the questions!):
bu - easy
Colgate - easy
Cornell - quite a reach
NYU - reach, but if we’re both lucky we’ll be in the same class
Northeastern - similar to above.

Universities generally value the SAT more than the GPA since grades can vary so much from high school to high school. Your SAT is quite high so you have a good chance at most of these schools. Just wondering: what’s your grade trend? Are you an all around B student or is there an upward or downward trend in grades? If so, that will make somewhat of a difference. I think you’ll get into 2/3rds of the schools honestly, but I agree with the poster that finances may be an issue.

Is everyone mixing up Northeastern (in Boston) with Northwestern (in Chicago)? While Northeastern is a good school, your score blows their average (upper range!) SAT of ~1250 out of the water. To me you are a shoo in there.

ya for sure youll be in alot of kids from my school got into northwestern chicago and they had 3.1 and just did work on the sat i was wondering if anyone though i could possibly get into auburn with a 3.1 gpa and 1100 sat just cr and math my wrirting was 570

ehh well freshman year i had like all C+'s and a couple of B’s and i’ve improved a lot even getting onto honor roll a couple of times from then and freshman year i had NO honor/ap classes and now practically all my classes are honors/ap cept english

It sounds like you have an upward trend after your freshman year, which is good and could give you a bit of a boost in admissions. Here’s some of my guesses based on comparing your stats with the average SAT/GPA stats of the schools…

Union- Between a safety and match. Good bet.
BU- Match/somewhat of a safety. Think you’re in fairly easily.
Northeastern- Also in between a safety and a match. I would be surprised if you didn’t get in.
BC- Match. Medium chance.
NYU- Match-- medium shot.
Bucknell- Match – medium shot.
UW- Madison- Match. Will depend on whether your an in state or out of state applicant.
Michigan- Match. More towards reach territory though. Like with UW Madison, chances depend on whether you are an in-state or out of state applicant.
Colgate- Match/Low reach.
USC- Low reach.
Emory- Low reach. Your SAT is on the high end of their range and can hopefully outweigh your GPA somewhat.
Cornell- Reach. Slim chance.

Try to shoot for that higher SAT and do well in this semester of your senior year to try and improve your GPA (even if it is just by a little). Also, have you thought about picking any more safeties? I think Union, BU and Northeastern are your best bets but other than those, you have a ton of matches, low reaches and reaches. I’m not sure what state you are from but you may want to add a good in state school because your list sounds awfully expensive.

I don’t think you’ll get into Cornell, USC, or NYU. If you do then don’t expect much financial aid. The rest are matches or low reaches.

How rigorous were your schedules? If you took like 8-10 APs then you’ll have a better chance. But by guesstimating your weighted GPA (3.4) I don’t think you had the INSANELY HARD schedule.

OMG that would be great. My daughter has a 3.15 GPA and high 600s into 700s SATs. She’s trying to get into Northeastern, Syracuse and Drexel music industry programs. I wonder if you’re right…
