really strict curriculum?

my friend who went on a tour of cornell last year said that they specifically said they were really really really strict with their curriculum, would give their students about 5 elective classes for the entire undergrad years, are way more focused on the major, and don't really let students take classes from other majors cuz the majors get first choice so they should forget about it. is any of that true?

thats columbia.

that might be true for Architecture (if that)?

But definitely not for any other major.
Even in engineering you are required to take 8 Liberal arts classes and several outside engineering electives.

that’s weird that they would say that on a cornell tour though. :-/ so how many electives can you guys take?

It really depends on the major.
I heard you need about 32-35 to graduate and only about 18-22 relate to your major, however.
