i'm probably like the only one on this site who doesnt know this but what is different about a liberal arts school and any other university?

lol thats ok, i didnt know what it was until a few months ago either. Liberal arts is when you are undecdided about a major yet, so you go to college and take the general classes until sophmore year, and hten you choose your major. Non liberal arts is when you are going to a college that already has a direction ie buisness or something, and that way you can save soem time and money and avoid going to buisness school in soem cases, (my brother did that)

so if you go to a liberal arts school, you have to take liberal arts and all the other general courses or can you go to a liberal arts school but actually major in something?

a liberal arts school will give you a broader education. they usually have requirment courses in all different areas of study so that you can expose yourself to areas that you did not know you liked. also they tend to be smaller and not have graduate schools so there are no graduate students teaching courses.

A liberal arts college is an institution of higher education found in the United States, offering programs in the liberal arts at the post-secondary level. They encourage and often require their students to take a substantial number of classes in topics which may not directly relate to their vocational goals, in an effort to provide a "well-rounded" education. They may be distinguished from colleges offering programs primarily in business, engineering and technology, the trades

A university is an institution of higher education and of research, which grants academic degrees. A university provides both tertiary and quaternary education. it is composed of undergraduate, graduate and professional colleges and offers degrees in each. they award masters degrees and doctoral degrees as well as an undergraduate division that awards bachelors degrees.

i understnad this whole concept now, thanks for the information

wait....what about U of Michigan? lol that's liberal arts but its also a university...so is it a liberal arts university? lol

A university can be liberal arts (Ivies, for example). Virtually, American postsecondary education as a whole is liberal arts (favoring well-rounded people). But most of the time, the term "Liberal Arts Colleges" refers to institutions that only offer bachelor's degrees and the term "university" refers to postsec institutions that award all bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.

A university has different schools within it for science, art, poly sci, math, et cetera. A liberal arts is a smaller school with more focus on general education.
