REALLY want to get into UPenn

Weaknesses: Average SAT score, possibly not enough AP's, no extracurriculars freshman or sophomore year, no outstanding awards so far (only a junior).

General Comments:
Information, such as letter of recs, were included because that is how I expect them to be by the time of my application. I really want to get into Wharton and I'm trying to find out everything that I possibly can to make my application better, if you have any advice for me PLEASE share.

You need to develop something that shows your entrepreneurial spirit.

In addition, you must start looking for alternatives right now. While your profile is competitive for Wharton, many competitive are turned away. Therefore, you need to find other schools that you’d like to attend - could be Georgetown’s business school, NYU Stern, Bryant, U South Carolina’s Honors Program and International Business major, etc. Start exploring. In addition, looking at schools with International Management and Economics (such as Dickinson College) may open up possibilities.

By something that develops my entrepreneurial spirit what do mean? Any examples? I really want to do anything that I possibly can

I think you have an excellent chance! I agree you should definitely have a safety as a backup, as ivies can often be a crapshoot for anyone. However, you have a perfect GPA, great SAT score, ECS, etc. As for the entrepreneurial spirit bit… if you’re concerned about that/want to demonstrate that to the school, just make sure to highlight things along those lines in your essays. You have some unique activities/involvement. Just really highlight that in your essay (in a humble way) and show that you looked outside the classroom/school borders for things to get involved in and show your passion. I think you have a great chance though but again nothing is guaranteed with ivy league schools so they’re never really a safety or sure thing for anyone. Best of luck to you :)

Take AP Calc BC, it’s actually imperative if you want to get into Wharton. At an information session, I heard an admissions reps tell us that, and that if not at school then at a community college.

Talk about “how to show entrepreneurial spirit” at your next FBLA. Telling you what yto do would totally defeat the purpose.

But, I insist, you need to look NOW for schools that are similar to Wharton and that you’d like to attend. Fixating on a school with such low admission rates is a recipe for disaster. You must find 2-3 other schools you’d like to attend. With your GPA/test scores, you’d have your pick about anywhere with admission rates above 25%.

Take BC for sure.

There is no such think as AP Physio…do you mean AP Psych? If so, drop that course and take Stats instead. (Wharton is for quant jocks.)
