Essay - I plan on writing about how my GPA is low due to a medical illness i had causing depression. After finding a donor, I decided I wanted to become a doctor and worked hard for SAT and such.

OK SOOO, I know my GPA is really low and am not sure how much good SAT,good essay, good EC's would make up for it..but I just want to know what "kind" of school I should apply to. (As far as selectivity goes)

Once again I really want to go here!

I think that even with that 3.0 GPA, you're still a bit overqualified.

strawberrymayo--
thanks for the reply, so even with my GPA significantly hurting me, you could say that Northeastern is a safe bet? Also I plan on applying to Northeastern, Boston U, Emory U, and Baylor U. Would you say all of those are reaches?

I wouldn't quite say overqualified, but I think you've got a very good shot at NU and BU; I don't know very much about Baylor or Emory.

gpa is a bit low, but test scores and EC's look really good, work on your gpa and id say you got a great shot, also have a great shot on some merit scholarships
