Really weird question about most recent SATs...

Hi,
So I took the SAT last month October 1st, and again today November 5th, and I realized something really strange. I recognized basically every prompt from the Reading and Writing sections from the previous test. I also recognized for sure one of the math questions. I asked my friends about it, one of which was also in my testing room last time, and none of them believed me. They said one of the Writing ones could have been about the same specific topic, but they could not remember the other passages. I will not specify the questions for the sake of Collegeboard’s rules.

Am I going crazy, or did other people recognize the questions as well?!?

What do you mean by “prompt”? The only “prompt” on the SAT is the Essay.

Are you saying you think the Nov. test was a repeat of the Oct. test? Because if so, I don’t think you’re correct. I had dozens of students who took both (in the US and internationally) and none of them have reported anything like that. @futurestudent23

@marvin100

When I said prompt, I meant the passages in the reading and writing section. I am 100% certain I have already seen three of them at least, two from the reading and one from the writing.

I took the test in the same school each time, could there of been some freak accident where I got the same test?

I am just really confused because I know the passages and questions were the same on both tests (at least for me), but nobody else thinks so.

That’s really weird, @futurestudent23 – I’d be surprised if you had a test none of my students took, and I’d be extremely surprised if none of my students noticed they’d been given a repeat test. Huh.

Maybe you had similar practice questions from CollegeBoard or prep books?

@sunshine232 @marvin100

I never thought that they were from my practice tests but even so, I went back through each test and there was nothing similar. I am 100% sure I had the same passages from the October test. The essay questions were different, but the actual test was the same.

Could I have accidentally taken the same test twice??? Should I contact Collegeboard about my tests?

Do not contact them about the test. If by some freak accident you were given the same test twice, it will be obivous pretty quickly when you get your scores back. You are either going to get every question wrong, or do spectacularly well. If you get everything wrong, that is the time to call. I find it hard to believe that you had the same test twice. I have had plenty of occasions when I am sure I have seen a question or passage somewhere else. Maybe you had déjà vu?

@Lindagaf

Honestly I do not think it is déjà vu, I vividly remember these passages and corresponding questions. I will not contact Collegeboard, at least not yet. But what if I order the Question-and-Answer Service for both tests? Will they send me my exact copy of the test from the school I took it at, or will it be a different copy. I just really think that there was a problem with my test and want to know for sure.

@futurestudent23 - first - when you get your scores - you will kinda know if they were same tests! Second - the answer service may not be available for all test dates. Eitherway - if you had the same tests and scored well - why would you worry about it?

Wait for your scores. If they are good - go with it. You have done nothing wrong.

In the same way nobody wanted to believe Trump would win the presidency, nobody wants to acknowledge the fact that the College Board is once again recycling the same materials from one test to the next. So, it is not surprising at all when you say that what you took in October came out again in November or that students who took the March exam saw it again in June.

And look at all these people feigning innocence and trying to convince you that you’re delusional!

You know what they say: You can fool all the people some of the time, and you can fool some people all the time, but you can’t fool all the people all the time.

As it turns out, students who took the November exam in Hong Kong received the same Writing/Language section as students who took the November exam in the U.S., but received a different Math section.

Given the urgency/necessity of taking certain exams off the testing schedule as a direct result of the massive leak that took place several months ago, it is quite obvious now that the College Board doesn’t have enough new tests and is already recycling entire sections from tests administered earlier this year as well as using the same sections worldwide.

^How do you know it was the same Writing/Language?

But I can believe it. Your logic makes sense.

The OP said he/she took the tests at the same test center. I think it’s much more likely that the proctors accidentally gave him/her an old copy of the October SAT.
