Really Worried.. help please!

So, I would like to transfer to Northwestern University for my sophomore year. I applied during my senior year of HS and was rejected but I was also really ill during my junior/senior year of HS and so SAT/GPA weren’t as high as could be ( around 3.6) but my college GPA for first semester will be 4.0. Also, I started many different ECs during this time. Do I have a chance at getting in? My HS ACT was 30. Should I retake my SAT and ACT?

Where are you now? You seem to be doing well where you are, why do you want to transfer? What approximate area do you intend to major in? Are finances an issue? Was first semester of university this spring semester which is just ending now?

I think that transferring is a long shot for multiple reasons. However, more information might allow people to give better informed comments.

Northwestern is extremely difficult to transfer to, with around a 10% acceptance rate. Even with a 4.0 from college for the first semester, your application will be heavily reliant on your high school stats, which aren’t competitive for northwestern. You will need at least a 33 to even have a shot. A 30 isnt even in the 25th percentile.

If you are better now, you should definitely retake the ACT. If seems like you applied ED to Rochester. Did you get in? If not, I think Rochester would be a good potential option for transfer.

There are many valid reasons why I want to transfer, too many to list. But do you think Northwestern will expect me to retake all my standardized tests after I’ve been seriously ill for two years and am now better?

Where are you headed in the fall?

Northwestern doesn’t expect you to do anything. You don’t have to retake it, but your score will seriously hinder your chances of getting in. Whether you take it or not is your own prerogative.

Thanks for the advice… I will be retaking the exams to maximize my chances
