reapply for UCs?

I am a California resident and studying in a california community college. I got rejected by UCB and UCLA but I got offered by other UCs. I really want to get into UCB and UCLA. I am thinking should I stay one more year in the CC. Will this affect my chance if I reapply the UCs(especially UCB and UCLA since they rejected me) this fall?? Will they require a higher gpa?? I afraid those UCs which have accepted me would reject me next year. I do not have any schools to go then........

Is it worth it? The outcome may be the same for the following year. UCB and UCLA are highly selective. Would you chance another year based off that?

What if you don’t get in the second time? What will you do then? Honestly, it’s not worth waiting other year for a second chance. They are not going to give you priority just because it’s your second time applying.

What’s your major, GPA and how many prerequisites have you completed?

A lot of people really, really want to go to UCLA and Berkeley but you have to face reality. Not everyone is qualified to go there.

Why were you denied admission? What is about UCLA and Cal that you feel you MUST go only to one of those schools?

Just because ucb has always been my dream school.:(

you should tell us your stats

@iaintstupid Post you stats as in the time when you submitted your UC App (omit personal details). I’ll give you my opinion about whether wait a year o not. I understand what you are going through; even though I got accepted to Berkeley, I was sure before Friday that I would be rejected and I couldn’t help thinking that I would reapply.

Unless you had incomplete prerequisites that you could complete by next year, or you think you can significantly bring up your GPA, waiting does not seem to be worth it.

What major did you apply for, and what were your stats?

If you do choose to wait a year, you could also always TAG to another UC.

I applied media studies with 3.3x gpa(i know its very low). If i stay for one more year, it can pull my gpa to 3.6x and i might apply rhetoric or linguistic.

How many prerequisites have you not taken? Or have you taken all of them?

I can’t seem to find a “media studies” major on UCLA’s website. Does it have another synonyms name?

@lachesis4687 I have completed most of them. Since one of the prerequisites is History. It is equivalent to 2 history classes in my college. I completed one of them only. Besides, i got a C and B for other requirement. I know my chance is very small for media studies. Therefore, I just want to know if i wait for one more year and change it to linguistics or rhetoric, is my chance still very low? I am taking+ will take many similar communication and linguistics classes in order to show my passion of this field.

Considering you’ve completed most of them, I think it would be kind of a wasted year and would not recommend staying at all. There is no guarantee that you get in the second go around.

Where did you get accepted?

Media studies is a highly highly selective major. The UCLA’s reciprocating major, communications is, as far as I know, the most selective major in L&S. Communications have a cut off GPA of 3.5. Also there is no guarantee that you can pull up your GPA. What if you don’t get your 4.0 that you think you can get? I recommend that you go to whatever school you’ve been accepted to.
