Reapplying after declining admission

I haven't submitted my application to NYU yet, but I'm basically finished with it. The thing is, financially, it would be better for me to go to college in state for about two years, THEN go to NYU. I want to submit my application, but, theoretically, if I were to get accepted, I might have to decline. Nothing's set in stone yet though, so I still have a chance to get over the financial issue and accept.

Is it a bad idea to reapply as a transfer to NYU after declining undergraduate admission/going to another school for 2 years? Should I still submit my undergraduate application? Would it be a better idea to not apply right now, and instead apply as a transfer in two years? The chances of me being able to accept NYU are still there, so my biggest issue at the moment is if it's worth it to submit my current application.

Man, sorry if this is confusing at all. I appreciate any answers/advice, thank you guys in advance. X_X

If you know you cannot afford to go now, why do you think that might change in the future? You’ll get more financial aid as a freshman than as a transfer student. If you are certain the college is out of your reach financially, then apply somewhere else and don’t look back.

They don’t keep files from applicants from two years ago. Some colleges will ask if you applied previously (I doubt NYU does this). I don’t know how you think you’ll get over the financial issue of paying $240K for school. Win the lottery? Move on. Head to NYU for grad school if you really feel the need to go there.

Maybe OP is waiting to see the financial package before making the final decision?

And no, it won’t matter if you reapply
