Reapplying to colleges

Hello,

I am an international student from Bangladesh and I got accepted to some very good places last year, for the Class of 2017. Unfortunately, my family circumstances changed drastically in the middle of the year, so an affordable financial aid package at Mount Holyoke College suddenly was not affordable any more. Even after a review of circumstances, I was not able to afford it, so I did not enroll.

I was also accepted ED to Cornell University but was released from the commitment because they did not offer me financial aid.

I would like to reapply to Cornell University, and Hamilton College and Colgate University (both places waitlisted me, but in the end that did not work out since they were not able to accommodate anyone else).

Is reapplying somewhere a good idea? How can I increase my chances of receiving financial aid from Cornell, and better chances of admission to all three places?

Also, what information from my previous entries will be stored? Will the colleges retain my transcripts, letters, etc., from last year and compare them against new ones I submit? For example, will it play against me, if I ask the same teachers to recommend me?

Furthermore, will my financial information be stored? Do I have to resend my data, or will the college utilize the documents I sent last year?

Thanks!

The FA offer you get is based on your family financial situation, so unless it changes, your FA package won’t change.

Whether or not they keep your old application/FA information depends on the college, call and ask them.
