Reapplying to MIT- Same EC

Hello everyone.

I am reapplying to MIT this year. Yes, it sounds odd. But I am giving it one final shot. But being rejected this year on March wasn't the only reason why I took a year off to re-apply. I had a couple of other interests that I wanted to pursue, and I also wanted to drastically improve my test scores.

If I had to rate my MIT interview in 2013 out of 10, it would be something close to 10 indeed. My EC was extremely friendly, and I have been re-assigned to him once again this year. While I am super excited, what do you think? Is it possible for the same applicant to have an interview with the same EC who had already sent in all the feedback to MIT last year? Either way, I am looking forward to meet that guy. It was some of the best 2 hours of my life last year.

It depends on the region. In many regions, ECs are assigned to high schools. The idea being that an EC will really get to know the high school very well, and be able to properly put the students accomplishments into context. We do some of that in my region, with some exceptions (for example, I try to split up twins with different ECs), but in most regions, you will likely get the same EC if reapplying. If you are uncomfortable, you can write to interview@mit.edu and ask about changing. Though it is probably not a thing to worry about.

Thank you for the valuable insights, Mikalye.
