This is complicated. Last fall, I applied to four UC schools. I was accepted to UCSD, but then decided to take a gap year. UCSD agreed to defer my spot a year so I could attend university starting in fall of 2020, as I am currently teaching in the South Pacific. Meanwhile, I was waitlisted/rejected at UC Santa Barbara. I would like to still reapply there, but am not sure how to go about doing so. Help!
Does your deferment at UCSD contract state you cannot apply to another school during your Gap Year? I would check with UCSD before attempting to apply to UCSB. You could end up with no school to attend next Fall.
It doesn’t specifically state that I cannot apply anywhere else, but, as you mention, I didn’t want to mess with what I already have. I also wasn’t sure if asking UCSD would upset them, since deferment isn’t something they usually do anyway.
