If you were to reapply to the same school, after being rejected (one year later), would it be 'bad' to use the same essays, even if the prompts were the same?

well, i had considered doing that for one essay, but ruled it out. too risky. i'd hate for them to see me as too lazy to write another essay. the essay i wanted to re-use was, what i think, a really good essay that told a lot about me. i'm just using a few parts of the essay instead of the entire one...

I know, it's defintely risky. But supposedly the school throws out your records after one year of inactivity or something to that nature. Because they have so many applicants, I'd hope they would do that, and I could just use the same essay. I worked really hard on it, and it would suck if it had to go to waste.

it depends. if its about an activity or something you were involved in, i'd wager that it would be ok, since your answer to what made a certain activity important to you realy wont change. (this goes if youre writing about one from high school). If its more of a personality based question, then i suppose it could be a different story.

Also, your essays should reflect what you're doing now... if they didn't like it the first time, maybe you need a different approach? And unless you're exactly the same as you were a year ago, they should know what you've been doing, and that should be the focus of your essays
