I'm wanting to leave my current job for higher pay. A job I'm applying for asks me why I am wanting to leave my job. Do I give them the truth, or give a softer explanation?

Tell them the truth. If they really like you, there is a chance they may raise your salary in an effort to keep you there.

Well it depends on what the truth is. You have to be careful what you say. If you say something like “I don’t like my boss”, that might not look good. But if its something like, “I am looking forward to expanding my career opportunities” that might sound a lot better. Its all about how you word things.

“I am looking for better opportunities”
