Major: Biochem

Choices:
Muir
Warren
Revelle
Marshall
ERC
Sixth

ERC was my FIFTH CHOICE, is there a reason why they skipped 1st - 4th, even though they say most students get their first or second choice?

Is it because my application/gpa/scores were not good enough? Or is it because they actually feel I'll be good at ERC due to my personality and essay? I wrote a lot about leadership, making a change, and influencing the future generations. I'm getting this feeling that "UCSD barely wants me", and I'm still waiting for other schools too.

I'm really worried about ERC because I am ABSOLUTELY INSANELY HORRID AT WRITING. I plan on going to medical school, so I am afraid of having my GPA killed at ERC. How is ERC for pre-med?

I don’t actually know how they put people into the college but I’m guessing it’s some arbitrary system. I wouldn’t get hung up about it.

Every college has their writing courses and from what I hear none of them are particularly EASY. I know that you know that getting into med school is hard. Don’t feel that a lower division writing class will hold you back from achieving your goal if you’re serious about it. If you’re bad at writing, there is plenty of opportunity to get help here if you take advantage of it. I think the writing classes will really help you grow as a writer.

I really wouldn’t be so worried about the college. Chances are you’ll really like ERC. But ultimately UCSD is UCSD. And if your goal is going to med school you’ll need to come in ready to work hard in all of your classes no matter which university you go to.

I got into ERC which is my 5th choice too!! I don’t know how they arrange people into colleges. My major is chem engineering… However, I will just accept this result.

@mmuuuuaa: If you don’t mind me asking, what are your GPA and test scores?
Also, what topics did you write for your essays? Did it include anything having to do with topics such as impacting the world or other themes of ERC?

ERC isn’t ideal for sciences but it is definitely doable. The biggest difference is your general education requirements will be more heavy in humanities. For engineers, they recommended I choose Warren.

Funny, I was accepted to ERC and that was my 6th choice as well O_O
