reasonable chance to wharton?

Hello all, I am a junior right now. I really want to attend wharton, but i am unsure of my chances. If you guys could just review my stats and let me know if i have a reasonable chance of getting in, that would really help motivate me. Please be honest.

GPA (unweighted): 3.4 (Freshman year), 4.0 (Sophomore year), hopefully will be between 3.8-4.0 this year.**

SAT I: (took twice, this is my best)
800 Math
780 Reading
770 Writing
2350 Total

AP's (Will take in spring, hopefully 4's and 5's):
AP Calc BC
AP Lang Comp
AP-USH
AP-Micro economics

SAT II's:
750 Chem
800 Math II
Will take US-History and Physics, will be between 750-800 hopefully**

EC's:
JV Tennis (9,10) Might be out this year if my shoulder injury does not heal
Class treasurer - one year
Odyssey of the Mind - States one year
FBLA - States two years, 2nd Level of the Business Achievement Award
Math League - one year
Will be in National Honors Society this year

Volunteer:
I currently have about 50 hours of volunteer, i will start volunteering on a daily - weekly basis and will have about 300 hours before i apply.
Going to go overseas to volunteer either once or twice before i apply.
I will probably base my essays off of my volunteer work, as I am very involved in the senior care center where I help. I'm sure my supervisor will also write a very good recommendation for me.

Misc: Very large, competitive public school in NJ. Always at least 10 Ivy-league acceptances each year. I am one of the 3-5% of my class that "doubled up": we are taking math and science classes 1 year ahead of the rest of our class. I am a Korean-American male.

I know a lot of my stats are undecided as of yet (3rd year GPA, II's, AP's) but if I meet all of my goals that are mentioned above, do you think that I will have a reasonable chance of being admitted? I will greatly appreciate any replies.

Excellent chance if applying ED
Less so yet still good chance for RD

I will definitely ED for wharton; it is my top choice. thank you greatly for replying.

You’re looking great, except for that GPA :(

Exact same situation I’m in. I already ED’d, now I’m just hoping for the best…
Keep up that upward trend, I’m sure they’ll appreciate it.

Thanks for the reply, and yeah my GPA was the main reason I posted this thread. Best of luck to you!

im going to be honest your ec’s are not showing much focus or leadership. this year I would try and work on that if possible. besides that you have a great chance i would definitely not rule you out

What would you recommend to try to display more leadership? I will apply to be on the executive board on the clubs that I’m in. Otherwise, I’m out of ideas.

Become the founder of a new club (maybe an academic team like the Economics Challenge?)
Become the captain/president of existing clubs…
It’s not that hard!

Also, make sure none of your activities are only one year because that just looks bad…

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll do my best.
As for the one-year activities, the only ones that will be one year by the time I apply will be Class treasurer and Math League. My school math league was cut due to budget cuts, so unfortunately there’s nothing I can do about that.
Any other opinions? I really appreciate the replies.

Excellent stuff here. 70% chance if ED I’d say.

i wouldnt say all things for one year are that bad. if you have been doing some prep for a club for a year and then senior year decide to start that club its not bad at all.

Hey! A korean-american just like me. You’ll be fine. We’re sort of a minority in ivy leagues. :)

Thanks for the reply, thefreakedout and rahuja.
Are we really? That’s good to hear.

Any other opinions on my chances? Really would love some other input.

Great SAT! Keep GPA at a 4.0 for Junior year, and really try to get a meaningful EC and/or service experience. Then I’d say you’ve got quite the shot!

and im sorry being Korean-American is not going to help you in the admission process if anything it will hurt you since that is under the Asian category

yeah being asian is never really that helpful in this game we call college admissions. Although I must say, despite the fact that CC chances mean nothing, I am a little excited since your stats are pretty close to mine, I have a 2350 superscored SAT, and around the same level of EC’s, so hopefully I get in this year, and you get in next year.

That is true, oh well. Best of luck to you, please let me know whether you get accepted or rejected (hopefully the former!).
