wow --didn’t see how old the original post was. Wonder where the student went?!

whoa, I didn’t notice either. Someone posted before me and it got deleted.

Look for schools in your region that might offer instate tuition discounts for your state.

Oh, LOL! Oh well, maybe this will help out someone in the future!

Scary thing is think about what those schools cost then and how much more they probably cost just 5 years later…

so true about Canadian colleges given the exchange rate now vs. then.

Many of the lesser known, but still very good LACs give nice merit packages to offset tuition. My son had several LACs sending him ‘priority app’ invitations (usually no app fee as well). He wasn’t interested in small LACs (wanted big U), but I encouraged him to apply to a couple anyway (just in case he had a last minute change of heart). He got nice packages from Allegheny (who couldn’t have been nicer to deal with) and Ursinus. There are many similar schools out there. Tell you D to look out for such mailings (E or snail) in the next year or so.

Another option is to look into the smaller SUNYs. Even their out-of-state tuition is relatively low.

Oops…I just realized this is 5 years old, right after hitting the ‘Post’ button!

The OP of the original thread was Chedva who still posts here often. One more good cost school to add is Bemidji State.
