Reasonably priced meals in/near Palmer House?

Giordano’s delivers!

Is that pizza, Asst? I’m getting excited!

Yes, deep dish Chicago style – I think there’s a location within half a mile of the Palmer House. Lou Malnati’s is delicious too, as redscorpion mentioned – not sure if they deliver, though.

OH, Lou Malnati’s is pizza?! YUMMY!! I have NO problem taking a cab!

Thanks all. I’m getting hungry now!
SU88bfa - did you go to Syracuse? I did. Graduated 92.

There is a Lou Malnati’s about 7 blocks south of the Palmer House on State Street, but I think they deliver also!

And at 11th and Wabash is the Eleven City Diner which has deli food and breakfast all day.

I think I am now more excited about the food than anything else!

Y’all are making me hungry.

LOL @ frazzled! I think I am too!! I may just print out this thread as reference!

Ditto to Corner Bakery and Miller’s Pub. We ate at both several times. Miller’s Pub is a Chicago landmark - service was wonderful, food was good, basic (my D & friend loved their mashed potatoes!) and not very expensive. Moms could get a glass of wine! We went to one nice restaurant one night, but my very tired brain can’t remember the name of it! Luckily we did breakfast on executive level so didn’t have to worry about that. The place attached (Freshee’s mentioned?) was good to grab something quickly.

dramamama-- Yes, I’m a Syracuse grad-- graduated in 88.

I’ll be in Chicago for the SU vs Duke game on Saturday. I think I’ll go over to Miller’s Pub with son and watch the game there-- It starts at 5:30pm, Chicago time. Prime dinner time for us east-coasters and by then I’ll need a glass of wine.

SU88. We just missed each other then. I graduated high school in 88.
I must admit I didn’t follow sports then and I don’t now!
But it sounds like Millers Pub is a good dinner spot so we will probably eat there some night too.
Did your S apply to Syracuse? My D did.

Yes! Couldn’t help ourselves! It was our addition to his list. (Hubbie went there, too.)

H and I are SU law grads-'87 and my D applied to Syracuse too (also grew up in suburb of Syracuse)…we seem to have a SU parent presence on the CC MT thread this year! Otto is my Facebook profile photo every year during March madness, go 'Cuse!

Funny. I was in Newhouse. Syracuse has a great MT and acting program so a good place to apply! And of course I got to have some Varsity pizza when we visited. :-)

Had an excellent lunch at the Corner Bakery today. Peeked into Freshii and that looks awesome too – they even have cold hard-boiled eggs for sale–awesome for a quick protein fix.

Does anyone know if the Palmer House is connected to the underground walkway that some Chicago hotels have? We used it one Chicago visit .thanks all for the great help with food choices. Already looking up the menus for the pizza places!

Anyone want to meet for dinner some night?

Dramamom - If you haven’t already made plans, D and I have a window of 7-8:30ish for dinner. Would be happy to meet if that works for you. Don’t know how busy places are around here; hopefully we could get something in that timeframe. PM if interested.
