Hi, could those who applied to caltech tell me the reason why you chose caltech? Thanks!

It's only fair that I present both sides.

My Positives:
-Unmatched Research Opportunities
-Overall Rigor of School (Drinking from a Firehouse type education)
-Very Talented and Motivated Student Body
-Core Curriculum
-Tech Culture
-Small Intimate Student Body
- Student to Faculty Ratio is 3/1
My Negatives:
- Social Life (but it's more what you make of it, and you don't come to Tech to party)
- Caltech's prestige and regard as a top school according to the average joe pales in comparison to similar caliber schools.
- Ratio

My Positives:
Everything that PwnzDeLeOwnz said in "positives" plus
Social Life - I like the wackiness of Caltech students, and I really hope the student body would be, on average, not normal (in the so-called "Normal Social Life" sense).

Ratio - although I cannot say I am crazy about it, I certainly do not hate it. I mean, 300 girls should be enough for any guy, right? :)
Besides, having lived for six weeks with 12 girls and 23 other guys, I haven't noticed for a second the perfect 2 to 1 ratio we had.

Also,
The location - I love dry warm climate, and I don't like winters if they don't have snow (like here, in NYC). In addition, I wanted to live in a town that's quiet and green, but that's nevertheless close to a big city. Oh, and I also love beaches . =)

I'd say I love everything about Caltech. To me, it was a perfect fit (as arrogant as it may sound)

The only negative was (and still is) the fear I would not be able to handle Caltech... but we'll see how it works out =)

thanks! this makes my decision of whether to apply to caltech much easier
