I applied to several unviersities around U.S. cause i'm international student.
USC is one my choices, but i'm not clear about going there if i get accepted.

i see many applicants also applied to ucla and still consider USC higher than ucla.
What's the reason? cause i'm sure UCLA has better rankings at most ofthe programs.

for business and film production usc is def. better. usc is also a private schools with smaller undergrad. classes so you get to know the ppl around u better and u form strong bonds with ur professors. UCLA cant compete with usc in those areas

the trojan family...see thread below this i think...verrrry helpful getting jobs during and after your USC education

smaller classes
alumni connection

not my first choice, but:

-intimacy: a smaller school with a better faculty to student ratio. this means classes will be smaller and your professors may actually know your name. counselors are also more easily available. research/intern opportunities are all there as well.

-connections: the alumni connection is extremely strong and may help you down the road for jobs.

-sports: self-explanatory

-different part of LA: this is subjective. some people like the safe bubble of westwood that ucla has, but others (like me) like how usc is in downtown LA, right by the staples center, that place where they hold the emmys (forgot the name), chinatown, koreatown...

-strong programs: ucla is ranked higher overall, but some of usc's programs are top notch. music, film, architecture, business...many people would rather go to usc than ucla for those programs (especially architecture)

-diversity: as a public school, ucla lacks the diversity that usc has. usc has a greater proportion of oos students, and also has more economic and ethnic diversity.

I applied for Electrical Engineering
if i get admitted to UCLA and USC hopefully,
which one should i goto?
i know they both have similar rankings for engineering

well what are you looking for in a college? its hard to tell someone where they should go without knowing what they want.

Well;
i'm thinking of going to graduates school too so may be good contact with profs
i guess if u look at this side USC is better
but graduates schools also look at undergraduates reputation so...
i dunno

usc has a good reputation. the whole university of second choice reputation is history. #27 by U.S. news while ucla is #26...theres no longer that huge gap that used to exist.

Graduate school, UCLA might be better if you have finances to worry about, since undergrad isnt as important...but on the flip side it might be easier to maintain a high GPA in USC to get you into the grad school.

true. if usc is affordable to you, you can't go wrong with either school

1) I need the Trojan family connections after I graduate. UCLA could give a hoot about what their kids do after graduation (or whether those kids actually pass their courses or not)

2) Business/Communication at USC is way better than UCLA. UCLA is a more math/science oriented school.

3) Just my personal preference, I like the tight community of private schools as opposed to public ones.

because someone called me from usc to congratulate me on my admissions and asked if i had any questions. if that ain't love then i don't know what love is
