Reasons I should go to UCI over UCD!?

UC Davis’ Picnic Day had a lot of attendees because it’s the biggest event of the year and it’s not really an open house, it’s an actual year round event where the community of Davis and UC Davis interact. That’s when I realized why people describe Davis as a “college town”. The way the community interacts with one another and how friendly & helpful everyone is… it’s great. UCI does bring a lot to the table and it’s really the opposite of Davis. It’s close proximity to Newport is always a plus and the active lifestyle of shoppers.

I grew up in SoCal so I had the privileged of being able to go to the beach anytime I want to and I was surrounded by malls for my materialistic needs. Though I enjoyed the lifestyle in SoCal, I really wanted to experience something new and away from the typical day at the mall and the beach. I chose Davis because of that fact that they offer so much more than just education and being near attractions. The ARC center in Davis is amazing and they really have almost everything you can imagine! School spirit is the largest in the nation and 23 division 1 sports really bring Davis to light.

People complain you need a car in UCI to do anything but I think that’s really exaggerated. You do need a car at some point because it does get lonesome. From my friends who attends UCI they sometimes complain about the lack of entertainment at times, but on slow nights you can focus on your studies. I haven’t heard from any Davis students how “boring” Davis is.

WWLINK is from the bay area and wants to experience something new and in that sense UCI is perfect for him/her. It’s really personal choices, they’re both great in academics and they offer different things to different people.

I’m not sure if this is more than other schools, but a tour guide mentioned that parking was $800 a year during Discover UCI.

Holy **** … why is the fee so high?!

UCI: [Student Parking Permits](UCI Transportation and Distribution Services)
UC Davis: [Permit Types & Rates](Parking Access)

overall UCI charges more than Davis in parking fees (monthly)
