Reasons to reject Harvard, Yale, Princeton

<p>Tulane because New Orleans is one of the best cities on Earth.</p>

<p>Bates and Bowdoin because they are in Maine and the food is the best (think lobster)</p>

<p>In general, I might not attend any of HYP of I got accepted at Stanford, MIT, Oxford and Cambridge, especially.</p>

<p>Or: </p>

<p>If I get into Berkeley for engineering (especially EECS or Computer Science) or Haas
If I get into Caltech for engineering
If I get into Wharton</p>

<p>Anyone who has a remotely serious interest in international affairs would be hard pressed to turn down an offer of admission from Georgetown's School of Foreign Service and the opportunity it affords to have classes with former heads or deputy heads of government of Poland, Spain, and Indonesia, a past U.S. Secretary of State, a past U.S. National Security Advisor, a past CIA Director , a past UN Ambassador, and some of the foremost academic minds in international affairs (people like Esposito and Charles King) today.</p>

<p>^ Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo also went to Georgetown. </p>

<p>Many of her Cabinet Members went to Harvard and Michigan.</p>

<p>Actually, Harvard gets 97% of the cross-admits between itself and Georgetown, Yale gets 94% of theirs, and Princeton gets 90% of theirs.</p>

<p>Secretary of Defense Gates is a graduate of Georgetown and I am sure that hundreds of Harvard grads provide great service to him and probably more than a few hundred Michigan alums provide him valuable service as well. President Clinton supervised all the Harvard and Michigan graduates.</p>

<p>If you got excepted to another equally good school that you thought was a better "fit" for you. (For example, I would reject Princeton for Brown.)</p>

<p>^ Why would you do that? Why do you think one would fit in at Princeton and not at Brown?</p>

<p>Georgetown is an outstanding school that has many talented alumni including Sec. Gates and President Clinton. But Georgetown boosters, you do NOT want to get into a Distinguished Alumni fight with Harvard. You will lose:</p>

<p>Believe me when Harvard has the Unabomber, Jeff Skilling and George W. Bush on its side, I am getting out of the way! You guys win, big time. I surrender.</p>

<p>George W. Bush actually went to Yale.</p>

<p>And Harvard Business School. It may be across the river but it's still Harvard</p>
