rec centers

what universities have the best rec centers?

This is one particular area that I can honestly say BU does very well in...

http://www.bu.edu/fitrec/facilities/fitrec/tour/index.html for pictures

There's even a lazy river.

^ Holy **** that is amazing, lol.

I was very impressed by the one at University of Houston...The 8 story ROCK WALL grabs one's attention

http://www.uh.edu/recreation/index.html

is there a ranking of the top 10? University of Cincinnati just opened up theirs and i was wondering how it compared

Wisconsin has 4 major indoor rec facilities that include the following:
12 tennis cts
6 squash cts
16 racquetball cts
63 meter pool
25 meter pool
diving tank
1/10 mile track
200 meter track
regulation hockey size ice rink
numerous weight and workout rooms
rowing tanks
17 basketball courts/gyms

Also have the largest on campus sailing fleet of any school except Navy and a golf complex.

Not as great as some of the others but still noteworthy...

http://arc.ucdavis.edu/recreation/index.htm

at UC Davis.

It is just not a matter of having them, but being able to use them. Some have very restricted hours, so that athletes have use of all of the equipment.

"It is just not a matter of having them, but being able to use them. Some have very restricted hours, so that athletes have use of all of the equipment."

I haven't had that issue. My school's is open most of the day and is open to all students (for free), faculty and alumn (if they are members). I don't think that the athletes use a lot of the equipment in the FitRec...I know that the hockey has its own training room in the Arena next door (which is another strong point of the school... http://www.bu.edu/agganis/ )

Most big-time athletic programs have their own workout facilities for major sports. For example
http://www.uwbadgers.com/facilities/mcclain/index.aspx

http://www.uwbadgers.com/facilities/kohl_center/index.aspx

http://www.uwbadgers.com/facilities/boat_house/index.aspx

http://www.uwbadgers.com/facilities/fetzer_center/index.aspx

Wow, the first one is beautiful.

The University of Tennessee - Knoxville has an awesome rec center. They call it T-Recs. They just built it not to long ago, so it's great!

I know Sports Illustrated on Campus (an insert in several college newspapers) declared the University of Missouri to have the best rec center not to long ago (I want to say last year).

From what I've seen in person, LSU can't really be beat.

I'm also partial to Tulane's Reilly Center, but it really can't compare with LSU, Arkansas, Houston, or UTEP.

the recreational pool at BU looks awesome

oh wait everything about that rec center looked awesome

RIT's is very similar to BU's... It is absolutely amazing to where I go (UR)... I think it just opened this past August...

Holy hell!! BU's is amazing! Lucky sons of @(*#$

UC San Diego's RIMAC: http://sportsfac.ucsd.edu/rimac/rimac_home.shtml

"This 200,000 sq.ft. complex includes a 12,000 sq.ft. weight and fitness room, a gymnasium, and squash and racquetball courts. Activities include fitness training, yoga, aerobics, intramural sports, and intercollegiate basketball and volleyball competitions."

:)

University of Florida: http://www.recsports.ufl.edu/home.aspx

My rec center (or gym, as I call it) has a gymnasium, batting cages, and a weight room. Not bad for a school the size of most high schools. There is a swimming pool nearby but it's in a different building.

Honestly, the gym is my favorite part of campus. I spend most of my free time while on campus there, and often will drive to campus when I don't have any classes just to use it.

At my old school (before I transfered and back when I lived on a campus), the gym was where I spent most of my evenings. Sometimes I'd meet up with some other guys there. Honestly, the gym was the only nice thing about my old school.
