Rec From a Senior Year Teacher?

<p>Would a rec from a senior year teacher look bad or be otherwise a poor choice in seeking a recommendation? I understand that it likely depends based on each scenario, but one of the biggest reasons is that I plan to apply ED to schools, so my recommendations should be completed fairly soon. </p>

<p>I feel like my possible senior-year recommendation teacher knows me well, probably as well as if i had him a full year, though I've had about 12 classes with him altogether. We've already worked together to begin a new club at my school, so I know the teacher pretty well and I know I could get a very good recommendation regardless of the time period I've studied with him. Would colleges think that this recommendation would be very hasty considering I'll have had him only a month or so by the time it's submitted? Would you highly suggest a junior year teacher instead?</p>

<p>I don’t see why it would be a bad idea. In fact, 2 of the colleges I’m applying to ask for a senior year teacher.</p>

<p>I’m in a similar situation to you as well (though not quite intense)- I’ve had the sr. year teacher before, so it all works out.</p>

Well, you said you’ve had the teacher before, so it doesn’t matter.</p>

<p>Perhaps I should have been clearer: I have not had the teacher before (I said “as well as if i had him a full year”), and have only had him as an actual teacher for 12 class periods so far.</p>

<p>To me, this seems like too little time to warrant a recommendation, but I’m not sure.</p>

<p>But the gist is still the same- the teacher you mentioned should still know you (and your drive) well enough to write a good letter for you.</p>
