Is it all right to get a reccomendation from a sophomore teacher? I feel that she knows me well and would bring insight to the adcoms, but I’ve heard they just want to see junior or senior teachers. What do you think? Thanks!

bump bump bump

I believe you are right, they really want teachers you've had recently I've been told. Makes sense though, as it gives a clearer view of who you are NOW as opposed to then. But I don't think they'll fault you too much for it.

my sophomore teacher knows me very well, not only during sophomore year but up to now. so the adcoms will be getting an insight of the NOW me.

if you can get more recent teachers' recs than do it- thats more important to an admissions officer than a rec from an older teacher- even if they say that they still "know" you.

I have the same problem. I have been in a dual-enrollment program since the beginning of my junior year. Since then, I have had each teacher for 4.5 months max.

I still think they'd prefer a more recent teacher. I don't think the adcoms are looking for a rec from a teacher who you've known for years and taken a recent class with, but just a teacher who got to see your character the way it is now (proven by the fact that you have had a recent class with that teacher) I think that makes sense.

It really depends. I know that most colleges say absolutely no freshman teachers, then they go on to say that they prefer junior/senior teachers, so they never really mention sophomore teachers. If it is a teacher who will say things that no other teacher can, then you might as well just do it. However, if this teacher will say the same things as other teachers, then get a different teacher.
