Rec. from the dean?

I'm trying to transfer to Cornell and in order to complete the application, I need a rec from the dean. how in the world can i get a good rec from the dean if i dont even know her? i dont even think any students really know her personally. what do i do?

I think it's pretty much just a letter saying you're in good academic standing at your school.

I would make an appointment with the dean, introduce yourself, explain your situation and politely request a recommendation. I'm sure she'll appreciate the effort of sitting down and talking to her instead of just dropping off a form at her office. If you have a good academic background and good relationships with a professor or two that she could talk to (if she has the time), then she'll obviously give you a good rec.

Also try to give the dean a list of your accomplishments (especially those relating to how you made your school a better place)...
