Rec Letter Dilemma

I'm in a dilemma here, and I was wondering if anyone can help me out. I'm applying to Georgia Tech, and Georgia Tech only accepts 1 letter of recommendation. I am getting a letter from both my math teacher and lit teacher, so I asked only my math teacher to turn in the rec letter to GaTech because I am applying as an engineering major. My English teacher accidentally turned in her rec letter to GaTech, and their application is due on October 15th (so it is coming up). I talked to my guidance counselor about this, and she said she'll she what she can do because she was never in such a situation. Do you think GaTech can cancel that rec letter and let my math teacher turn in her letter? My math teacher didn't finish her rec letter yet, but said that she will finish it by the 15th. Can i do anything about this becuase the deadline is coming up VERY soon and idk if it will be solved by the 15th. Ive also emailed gatech and BOTH my teachers, and counselor about it, but im afraid gtech wont respond caue its the weekend, and both my teachers wont respond either cause they barely check their email. only my counselor replied and she said she'll try her best. i cant visit my schools and talk to them in person, cause i moved and go to a different school, and its likea 20 minute drive. all the teawchers will be out by the time i go there.

I am completely frustrated because this isnt even my fault. I've given both my teacher one month time to write the rec letters and they turn it in the last minute. Im really stressing out, cna anyone PLEASE give me advice.

First, take a deep breath. Then, call GTech’s admissions office and explain exactly what happened. I’m sure they will be happy to ignore the lit teacher rec and use the math teacher rec as the “one”. You might want your GC to email them with the same story so they understand it was a teacher flub, not yours. Be sure to follow up on the issue so they do in fact use the math recommender submission.

@fauve‌ i called them now, but tehir office is closed. they arent open on weekends either

@fauve‌ im expecting to get a reply by SOMEONE (either teacher, ga tech, or anbother response from GC) by monday. would that be too late because the application is due on wednesday for gatech.

Send them an email today, and follow up with a call on Monday, (or Tuesday if they have Columbus Day off). They are enjoying the weekend. So no need to fret until business hours are open again. And do ask your GC to send an email when she/he can.

Know that admissions offices are used to hearing about mix-ups and generally want to help applicants, not punish them. Best of luck!

It will be OK – ditto fauve’s advice. Send them an email tonight with the your name and date of birth and the name of who sent the incorrect recommendation. Give a brief explanation and the name of the CORRECT recommendation. Then on Tuesday (which will still be before the 15th but gives them Monday to get your email), call them just to double check they got your email.
