If I am going into a STEM major, should I ask STEM subject teachers for recs? My humanities/english teachers seem to know me way better, and they are about character, right? But would asking at least one STEM teacher help for schools such as GA Tech?
I have read that it is a good idea to have both a Science and a humanities teacher give a recommendation but if you have to choose then I would choose the teacher you think will give the best recommendation.

I would have at least one STEM teacher and then a humanties teacher that knows you best.
Ga Tech will only accept one teacher LOR and one from your GC. I would go with the teacher that will write the best letter. Your grades in your STEM classes will speak for how well you do in those subject areas. Even if it is your English teacher, they would speak to how will you grasp material, participate in class, work ethics, etc.
A few comments:
– It is too early to decide who to get LORs from. You may develop a wonderful relationship with a teacher you have this year.
–Typically juniors will ask teachers to write LORs at the end of this academic year, not the start of it.
–In general it is good to have one STEM teacher and one humanities teacher write the LORs.
–If GA Tech only accepts one LOR (as noted above)choose a teacher who knows you best. It is important that you read and understand the requirements and limitations of each school you apply to.
@happy1 I’m a senior…
I would choose the teacher who you think knows you best and will write the best letter. Good luck to you!
