Rec Letters from teachers of same/different Subject Areas

Hi,

So I know that the general consensus among CC’ers seems to be that many schools prefer one rec letter to be written by a humanities teacher while another rec letter to be from a math/science teacher (even if the school doesn’t require it like MIT for example). But I also know that this consensus seems to sometimes vary case by case.

For me, I am for sure going to get a rec letter from my current Physics C teacher (I’m a junior btw).

For my second letter though, I need to decide if I should take AP Statistics next year and have that teacher write me a letter. (the stats teacher is my math team advisor, and I work with her CONSTANTLY since I am the VP. She knows me FAR better than any teacher on campus)

Or, I can choose to take Comparative Religion instead of Stats next year (I can’t take both) and have that teacher write me a letter. (That teacher is my previous AP Euro teacher. I was easily one of his best students as far as grades go and was one of his only students to get a 5 on the AP; I was average with regards to participation and class discussion though) But, he did explicitly tell me that he would be more than happy to write me a letter of rec

So in short-
Stats: Teacher knows me VERY well; can EASILY speak for my Leadership abilities/dedication; but same-subject-area letter
Religion: Teacher enthusiastic to write me a letter; different-subject-area letter

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. I have to choose next year’s classes soon. Also, thank you so much for taking the time to read all of this.

I would take Stats and Religion if you need two. Remember that a counselor recommendation is often needed. Definitely have a teacher for the subject of your intended major, though.
